Racial Harassment/ Discrimination.Racial harassment/ Discrimination in the UK here means prosecution, insults or other attacks suffered by people because of their colour, nationality or ethnic origin. Racial harassment can take many forms. For example:-
Although
there are no special racial harassment laws, all the above examples are
covered by other laws. They are criminal acts and people who do these
sorts of things/ crimes can be persecuted in the courts. Everyone has
the right to live without the fear of attack against themselves or their
home and property. Authorities such as police, local councils and schools
have a duty to protect you and your family from racial harassment and
to take action against the attackers. People who attack others because
of their race can be put in prison.
Community organisations and race equality councils can take on your case to make sure the authorities do as much as possible to cat against the attacker and to help you. Victim support schemes can help you to deal with any fears to anger that you may have after experiencing racial harassment. It is important to be aware that not every attack on an asylum seeker or refugee is racial harassment. Some incidents will be ordinary criminal acts. It will often be clear from things that the attacker says or does whether it is racist attack or not. If there is no direct evidence, then your feelings as the victim should indicate whether an attack is a racial incident or not. If you are a victim of racial harassment and are not sure what to do, contact a local advice centre such as a Citizen Advice Bureau or law centre. They will be able to tell you what help is available in your area. Please send us an e-mail if you have been discriminated against by any form click: -Here |
